About UMOJA Farm

The NGO “UMOJA” is planning to carry out its activities throughout the DRC. The “UMOJA” farm at Kasumbalesa being its initial project. Second in line is the farm at Menkao, Kinshasa. The NGO will extend its projects to the different territories of the State by decision of the Board of Directors. The NGO “UMOJA” is working in collaboration with Mother of Mercy’s Home non-profitable company, registration number: 2005/024090/08

Our Mission

To design, propose and develop programs, services as well as social actions with a view to the self-care and social well-being of populations, particularly in the field of agriculture.

To raise awareness and popularize information on methods and techniques in the agricultural field.

To promote access to local, good-quality food.

To ensure continuing training of the personnel in the agricultural field.

To promote research and the spirit of innovation with a view to providing solutions to the challenges related to food self-sufficiency in the DRC.

To facilitate work in networks or in synergy between different structures to achieve the common objectives of health development and social well-being within a time frame.

To ensure close collaboration with various partners in agricultural matters.

To encourage work and professionalism in the local community with a view to transforming the environment and living conditions.

As part of achieving its objectives, the NGO can collaborate with various partners or offer its firm expertise.

The resources of the NGO constituting the social fund for the achievement of its objectives come from:

Contributions from full members.

Donations and legacies.

Grants and possible subsidies from the State or state entities.

Results (products or fruits) of the association’s activities.

Various forms of assistance, aid, support or other.

Financing from public or private, national or international partners.

What we are farming

Cassava, sweet potatoe, peanut, ginger, palm tree, lemon, orange, mango…

The DRC has more available farmland than any other country in Africa, with an agricultural potential to feed close to two billion people. DR Congo has and estimated 80 million hectares of available arable land with 10% of this land is currently being used. The agricultural sector contributes 18 percent of GDP and accounts for over 60 percent of new jobs.
